President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of the U.S. Coast Guard in both national defense and broader national priorities during a speech at the military academy in Connecticut. Speaking to the new graduates, Trump highlighted their role in a time of global instability.
He linked the mission of the Coast Guard to his own domestic and international priorities, including those related to Iran. The address took place at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy commencement ceremony in New London, Connecticut.
The president stressed that the officers would be instrumental in defending the homeland and contributing to what he termed America’s “national resurgence.”
