Saquon Barkley Linked to Trade Speculation Amid Business Changes

48 minutes ago 0

Speculation is swirling around Saquon Barkley, as rumors suggest the Philadelphia Eagles might trade the star running back before next month’s deadline. Barkley, a three-time Pro Bowler, has missed two games due to injury. With the Eagles losing quarterback Jalen Hurts for the year, discussions about whether Barkley might join another NFL team have intensified.

While Barkley continues to play for the Eagles, he’s stepping back from one of his business ventures. He revealed that he was required to divest his equity stake in Polymarket. This move is due to NFL rules prohibiting players from investing in or endorsing gambling or prediction-market companies. Barkley mentioned to Front Office Sports that he can no longer engage with prediction markets, as per NFL regulations.

Meanwhile, Barkley remains questionable for the upcoming game against Washington, having not practiced this week. In a recent game against the Dallas Cowboys, he achieved his first rushing touchdown of the season. Barkley has amassed 244 rushing yards thus far.

The Eagles are heading into Week 8 with a challenging 2–5 record. As the team reflects on recent losses and strategizes for future matches, Barkley’s potential trade and his business decisions place him in the spotlight.

It’s noteworthy that other major sports leagues, such as the NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS, have partnerships with companies like Kalshi and Polymarket. In contrast, NFL players face limitations on such involvement. Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James, for example, reportedly earns $15 million annually for his endorsement deal with Polymarket, even featuring in a commercial alongside sports icons. Prediction markets allow trading on future events, with sports driving significant volume.
