President Donald Trump has once again urged the Senate to make daylight saving time permanent. He warned lawmakers that they have only a few days to act before clocks revert across most of the United States on November 1.
Speaking at a rally in Mississippi on Monday, Trump criticized the biannual clock change. He described it as “ridiculous,” emphasizing that it “drives everyone crazy.” According to him, most Americans prefer more daylight in the evening rather than in the morning. He stated that people “don’t want to have to go all over the place changing their clocks.”
The president expressed frustration with the Senate’s inaction on the Sunshine Protection Act. The bill, which seeks to make daylight saving time permanent, passed the House earlier this year. However, it has stalled in the Senate, preventing any changes from occurring at present. “That bill, however, remains locked in the Senate, meaning daylight saving time will end as scheduled to the disappointment of many, many Americans,” Trump noted.
Trump also addressed the issue on Truth Social, pressing lawmakers to act. He wrote: “The United States Senate is letting the Daylight Saving Bill die, when a vast majority of the country wants it. Most people are demanding light in the evening, but ALL want not to change their clocks anymore.”
