Federal Investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Immigration Status

1 hour ago 0

Federal investigators questioned Sahra Noor, the sister of Rep. Ilhan Omar, last week concerning an immigration fraud probe involving Omar. Sources indicated that Noor, although residing in Kenya, had been in the U.S. promoting her book, Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story. She canceled a Minnesota book event due to the legal developments.

Authorities conducted a raid on Omar’s Washington, D.C. home last Monday morning, reportedly in connection with a probe into potential immigration fraud. Investigators are examining whether Omar or her father provided false information on her citizenship application. During the raid, officials seized Omar’s phone, passport, and computer. Homeland Security Investigations led the operation.

If allegations against Omar are confirmed, they may result in her denaturalization. Following the raid, Omar publicly condemned the actions of the Department of Homeland Security. Her statement on social media accused former President Trump’s administration of targeting her with this raid. Meanwhile, Omar’s legal team has requested the return of seized belongings.

Adding to the controversy, about a dozen people linked to Omar have received subpoenas. While Omar has remained out of the public eye, her husband has been seen handling daily tasks at their home. The raid also sparked political debate, with Vice President JD Vance defending the investigation’s legitimacy, asserting it is driven by facts, not political motives.

Noor and Omar’s attorneys declined to comment further on the situation. The investigation continues to unfold amid ongoing discussion about its implications and motivations.
