Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., has remained out of the public eye following a raid at her Washington, D.C. residence conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents. Recently, Omar’s daughters have been seen at the house. Isra Hirsi, one daughter, was spotted entering the home at night.
Two days after Hirsi’s appearance, another teenage girl believed to be Omar’s second daughter entered the home with a caregiver. This activity follows HSI’s raid at the residence, which resulted in the seizure of Omar’s phone and passport. Although Omar’s son has not been seen at the house, other family members, including her husband Tim Mynett, have been present.
U.S. Capitol Police were also observed on the street outside the home, providing protection as per their duty to safeguard members of Congress and their families. Omar shares three children with her husband, Ahmed Hirsi. Previously, she was married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi from 2009 until 2017. Omar remarried Tim Mynett in 2020.
Tim Mynett expressed frustration with the situation, dismissing rumors about Omar fleeing the country. He stated, “You guys are annoying the hell out of the neighbors around here, man.”
Isra Hirsi, Omar’s eldest daughter, has been an activist. In 2024, she was arrested and suspended from Barnard College after participating in an anti-Israel protest. She also co-founded the U.S. Climate Strike, advocating for the Green New Deal and other political issues.
Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, canceled a book tour event, citing a “family emergency.” Three sources confirmed Noor spoke with federal investigators regarding the case.
The HSI raid targeted allegations of immigration fraud related to Omar’s citizenship paperwork. Former U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan suggested if the allegations are confirmed, Omar could face denaturalization. Approximately a dozen individuals, including relatives, have been subpoenaed in this matter.
Omar characterized the raid as politically motivated, attributing it to former President Donald Trump’s abuse of power. She spoke out, defending her innocence against these allegations.
In contrast, Vice President JD Vance, when interviewed, emphasized the investigation is rooted in law, not politics. He assured that facts will determine the outcome of the case.
