Fulton County officials in Georgia have filed a request for the return of 2020 election-related materials seized by the FBI. This motion, filed on Tuesday and currently under seal, urges a federal court to facilitate the return of approximately 656 boxes of original election documents taken from a warehouse.
The warrant cover sheet, provided to county authorities, specifies the items the FBI agents were seeking. The list includes all ballots from the 2020 general election, tabulator tapes from vote-counting scanners, electronic images of marked ballots, and voter rolls utilized during the election process.
This morning’s filing could not have come fast enough; justice delayed is justice denied,
stated Fulton County Commissioner Marvin Arrington, representing the district where the election headquarters is located. He emphasized the urgency of the motion, indicating the county’s need for timely justice for its people.
In addition to seeking the return of documents, the motion also requests that the federal government be prevented from accessing, searching, reviewing, or using the materials while the motion is active.
The FBI operation occurred on January 28 at Fulton County’s primary election site in Union City, close to Atlanta, focusing on records tied to the 2020 election. Authorities reported that the search targeted various election materials detailed in the warrant cover sheet, including ballots, tapes, electronic images, and voter registration lists.
Fulton County, predominantly Democratic, came under observation following President Donald Trump’s loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Although Biden won Georgia, Trump alleged that voter fraud contributed to his loss in the state.
County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts highlighted the persistent refusal by Trump and his supporters to acknowledge their electoral defeat:
The president himself and his allies, they refuse to accept the fact that they lost. And even if he had won Georgia, he would still have lost the presidency.
Pitts affirmed the county’s election integrity, noting that they have run 17 elections since 2020 without any incidents. He also emphasized the broader implications of this case for elections throughout Georgia and the nation, referencing recent comments by Trump suggesting the need to nationalize elections.
Additionally, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump called for legal actions concerning the 2020 election. This statement underscores ongoing controversies surrounding the election’s legitimacy.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the Justice Department for comments on the situation, but the FBI has opted not to comment on the matter.
