1 hour ago 0

The latest edition of the third Saturday in October rivalry provided unexpected thrillers in the Southeastern Conference. Unranked Auburn seized a late chance when Georgia fumbled, setting up a game-winning field goal that ended the match as time expired. This victory against the top-ranked Bulldogs marked the second straight week when a No. 1 team experienced a loss, following Oklahoma’s upset over Texas in Week 6.

Following Auburn’s victory, Tennessee, with one defeat, triumphed over No. 6 Alabama with a 26-10 win. DeSean Bishop, Tennessee’s running back, delivered an impressive performance by rushing for 159 yards and scoring two touchdowns. The Volunteers inflicted Alabama with its second consecutive defeat, a streak not seen for the Crimson Tide in regular-season games since 2007. Tennessee’s strong defense and the steady play of quarterback George MacIntyre supported their third consecutive victory. Alabama’s offense struggled, managing only 201 total yards, 54 of which were rushing, and suffered four turnovers.

Before Alabama’s trip to Neyland Stadium, they knew they would miss leading receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams due to recent knee surgery. Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell passed for 147 yards and led the team’s sole touchdown through a 19-yard run. Nonetheless, Alabama’s offense faltered, losing two fumbles and throwing two interceptions. At halftime, Tennessee led narrowly at 12-10, as both teams faced offensive challenges. Together, they accounted for five turnovers and had issues converting on third downs, succeeding in only three out of 17 attempts.
