Kristaps Porzingis, a player for the Golden State Warriors, expressed gratitude for the support he has received from NBA fans. Despite being sidelined indefinitely due to an undisclosed health issue, Porzingis found it necessary to address unfounded rumors about his condition.
On social media, some users speculated that Porzingis may have contracted HIV or AIDS. In response, he clarified his situation, stating that he does not suffer from these conditions. Porzingis has been absent from the Warriors’ training camp, leaving many to speculate about the nature of his mysterious ailment as the regular season approaches.
“Hello people, I’m working with doctors and experts to figure out how to be fully back to good health asap. Honestly, I’m getting better and better,” Porzingis wrote on social media platform X. “I just have to stay patient, and I believe I’ll be feeling great again soon.”
He acknowledged the frustration of dealing with persistent health issues, compounded by past injuries, but reassured supporters that he is addressing these challenges with the help of professionals.
Porzingis signed a $40 million contract extension with the Warriors during the offseason. Both he and the team were aware of his ongoing health concerns, with only $3 million of his $20 million salary for the upcoming season being guaranteed. His previous stint with the Boston Celtics was marred by an upper respiratory virus, which he suggested may still impact his court performance.
Last season, Porzingis played in only 34 games between the Atlanta Hawks and the Warriors. He is in regular contact with head coach Steve Kerr and Rick Celebrini, the Warriors’ director of sports medicine and performance, to manage his health issues.
Until Porzingis chooses to disclose more details about his condition, rumors are likely to persist. However, he remains focused on returning to play, with support from both the team and his doctors.
