Kansas City Chiefs Consider Trade for Wide Receiver Jerry Jeudy

1 hour ago 0

The Kansas City Chiefs face ongoing challenges with injuries among their wide receivers. The team’s second-leading receiver, Tyquan Thornton, suffered a severe ankle injury against the Las Vegas Raiders nearly two weeks ago. This injury is expected to keep him out for the rest of the season. Additionally, Rashee Rice is dealing with hamstring and knee issues, while Jeff Caldwell and Jimmy Holiday have been on injured reserve since late August.

Currently, the Chiefs have only four healthy wide receivers: Xavier Worthy, Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen, and Nikko Remigio. Worthy has 14 catches for 133 yards and one touchdown, while Royals has three catches for 17 yards and one touchdown. However, Allen and Remigio have yet to record a catch this season. Due to these circumstances, sports analyst Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report suggests the Chiefs should consider enhancing their roster at the wide receiver position.

Knox recently identified disgruntled Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy as a potential acquisition for the Chiefs. He proposed that Kansas City could offer a conditional 2027 fifth-round draft pick in exchange for Jeudy. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, it is widely acknowledged in the league that Jeudy is available. Although the Browns prefer a third- or fourth-round pick, obtaining one may be challenging.

The 27-year-old Jeudy struggled last season and has become less central to the Browns’ game plan this year. Concepcion, Boston, and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. have emerged as key targets. Nonetheless, Jeudy remains a skilled receiver, making a Pro Bowl appearance two years ago with a 1,229-yard season. His base salary of $1.5 million in 2026 is attractive to teams mindful of their budgets.

This season, Jeudy has accounted for eight catches and 81 yards over five games, playing a minimal role as Boston and Concepcion have taken the spotlight. However, in Kansas City, Jeudy would likely receive more opportunities than the current three targets per game in Cleveland. He would also offer quarterback Patrick Mahomes a reliable big-play option, filling the void left by Tyreek Hill’s departure.
