Selma Blair Faces Legal Troubles After Alleged In-Flight and Hospital Incidents

2 hours ago 0

Actress Selma Blair has been facing legal issues following accusations of airline and hospital incidents. It was reported that after an in-flight altercation onboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York, Blair allegedly kicked a nurse in her chest at a Queens hospital.

According to a court affidavit filed in Queens Criminal Court, the event occurred at around 2 a.m. ET on October 12. Registered nurse Ashley DeLeo was transporting Blair for further treatment at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center when the alleged assault took place. The affidavit stated that Blair’s actions caused DeLeo considerable pain.

Incident on Delta Flight

Blair, aged 54, was arraigned on two charges of second-degree assault. The charges followed a call to Port Authority police regarding a physically abusive passenger on Delta Flight 938, which arrived at JFK Airport. Officials noted that two flight attendants sustained injuries during the flight.

While being moved from JFK Terminal 4, Blair allegedly kicked Police Officer Maria Suarez multiple times, causing swelling and pain. Blair was then transported to a hospital for assessment.

Response from Delta

Delta Airlines commented on the incident, stating it does not tolerate unlawful behavior, emphasizing the importance of safety for customers and crew.

Medical Emergency

Blair’s representative indicated she experienced a medical emergency during the flight, which led to the behavior in question. Upon landing, she received medical attention and was reported in stable condition.

In court, Blair’s attorney, Shawn Barnes, argued that her actions were unintentional. Blair had missed her medication doses, which manage severe neurological symptoms related to multiple sclerosis. Barnes also noted that Blair had been working long hours and suffered a fall during the flight, contributing to her disorientation.

Blair’s diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2018 has been public knowledge, influencing her legal defense. Released on bond, she is expected to return to court in January. Judge Indira Kahn recognized the potential risk Blair’s behavior posed in the situation.
