Super PAC Targets Lauren Boebert with Attack Ads

2 hours ago 0

A super PAC has launched an attack ad focusing on an incident involving Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert during a theater performance in 2023. The Invest in Tomorrow Coalition PAC revealed in a Federal Election Commission filing the expenditure of $1.5 million opposing Boebert, who is seeking reelection.

Boebert and her male companion were removed from the musical Beetlejuice in Denver for causing a disturbance. CCTV footage showed Boebert vaping and the pair engaging in inappropriate behavior. Footage also captured Boebert being escorted out while gesturing offensively at an employee.

The new attack ad combines this footage with media headlines from the time. The narrator points out, “Beetlejuice is the ‘80s family classic. Also the show that Lauren Boebert was kicked out of for groping her date in a room full of children.” It further criticizes, “Costs are skyrocketing in Colorado and politicians are failing us. If Lauren Boebert can’t be trusted in a room full of kids, then she can’t be trusted in the halls of Congress.”

Boebert apologized for her behavior during the Beetlejuice incident, citing “difficult divorce” as a factor in her actions, which she admitted fell short of her values.

The Invest in Tomorrow Coalition, advocating for clean energy, planned to spend significantly to challenge Republicans opposed to renewable energy incentives. Their attack ads often spotlight personal vulnerabilities rather than energy issues. Ads targeting Indiana Representative Victoria Spartz focused on her healthcare policies and allegations of personal gain.

In the upcoming elections, Boebert faces Democrat Eileen Laubacher in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, with polls indicating her lead.
