Michael Douglas Reveals Past Affairs in New Memoir

Michael Douglas shares personal revelations in his new memoir, One Helluva Ride. In the book, the 82-year-old actor opens up about an affair with a co-star during the filming of the 1992 movie, Basic Instinct.

Contrary to popular belief that Douglas was involved with Sharon Stone, his on-screen partner, he discloses that the real affair was with Jeanne Tripplehorn, nearly 20 years younger than him. Douglas expressed deep feelings for Tripplehorn, stating, “The truth is, I fell very hard for Jeanne despite our nearly 20-year age difference. In fact, I was ready to officially leave my wife for Jeanne. I was crazy about her.”

Douglas admitted to engaging in an on-set affair with “Basic Instinct” co-star, Jeanne Tripplehorn.

At the time, Douglas was married to Diandra Luker, but they were separated. Their divorce was finalized in 2000. He recalls that his relationship with Tripplehorn lasted throughout the film’s production, but they eventually parted ways. “I will always think of her as an amazing actress and a truly terrific woman,” Douglas added.

Basic Instinct features Douglas as Detective Nick Curran, who is ensnared by a murder suspect played by Sharon Stone. Tripplehorn played Dr. Beth Garner, another love interest of Curran.

Douglas also reveals an affair with Kathleen Turner during the making of the 1984 movie, Romancing the Stone. After decades of denying the rumors, Douglas admits they developed feelings and had a relationship. “It wasn’t a fly-by-night affair; it grew naturally,” he wrote, describing the relationship’s development due to their close working conditions and mutual respect.

Douglas and Turner maintained secrecy, even from the cast and crew. They ended the affair after Luker visited the film set, making it clear they were still married.

Luker filed for divorce in 1995, and Douglas married Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000. The couple has two children, Dylan and Carys.
