Zoe Saldaña is opting to limit her involvement in Taylor Sheridan’s expanding television domain. The acclaimed actress stars as Joe McNamara in Sheridan’s CIA drama “Lioness” and asserts that the demands of the role already stretch her capabilities.

“Joe McNamara and ‘Lioness’ is all that I can handle at this time,” Saldaña remarked in a discussion with People magazine. She emphasized the extensive commitment required in this lead role, explaining, “I’m the first one in and the last one out. I prepare months ahead, which is a lot of work.”

While she is not eager to join more of Sheridan’s projects, Saldaña appreciates the trust developed through three seasons of collaboration. She notes Sheridan’s understanding of her reliability, likening her attributes to those of her character Joe—”honest,” “tough,” and “opinionated.”

The onset of the third season presented Saldaña with challenges. She shared her initial doubts with Entertainment Weekly, stating that she was uncertain if she could meet the demands. “It was very demanding, I’m not gonna lie,” she said.

Saldaña commended Sheridan for crafting a character like Joe based on skill rather than gender. “We’ve seen various stories of men like Joe,” she mentioned, highlighting that the writing allows for diverse actors to compete for such roles.

The third season concluded on September 20, yet the decision for a fourth season remains pending. During these episodes, Joe’s hazardous CIA journey impacted her personal life significantly, with elevated pressures on her family relationships.
