Adam Brody’s Discussion on Political Activism and Israel-Palestine Conflict

Jewish actor Adam Brody has joined several progressive celebrities in accusing Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza. He also commented on the political climate in Hollywood, suggesting it has become more “conservative” during President Donald Trump’s tenure.

Brody, who plays a rabbi in Netflix’s series “Nobody Wants This,” spoke with GQ Magazine about his activism and volunteer work. Though he hasn’t publicly discussed the Middle East conflict before, Brody shared his private views with the publication.

“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” Brody said. “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine. It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago. I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.”

Similar sentiments have been expressed by progressive celebrities like actor Mark Ruffalo and rapper Macklemore, who have referred to the conflict as a “genocide.” Despite vocal opposition to Israel’s actions from several celebrities, Brody noted a decrease in political activism within Hollywood.

Brody elaborated on Hollywood’s shift under Trump’s presidency. Initially, Trump’s election prompted widespread activism, with people running for office who had never done so before. The political climate felt unifying, but over time, the environment changed as Trump’s presidency gained more power.

Brody observed, “It felt very safe to step out against him in the first presidency. The second time, the presidency was more powerful. Corporations were lining up behind him like they hadn’t before. People had to risk more to get in front of it.”

Progressive activism is reportedly gaining momentum once more with the upcoming election, according to Brody. Some celebrities have continued to call for a “free Palestine” and criticize Israel’s actions.

Brody also shared his opinion that Hollywood has become more outspokenly conservative during Trump’s second term. The allure of power, success, and groupthink are factors contributing to this shift, according to Brody.

Fox News Digital reached out to Brody’s representatives for comment but did not receive a response.

Christian Toto, founder of “Hollywood in Toto,” offered his perspective to Fox News Digital. While conservatism in Hollywood may have seen slight improvement, groupthink and backstage politics continue to be influential. Toto noted that while activism toned down after the 2024 election, it has since revived.

Toto said, “Hollywood activism was a bit muted following the 2024 election, but now it’s back to its usual volume. And if Brody truly felt afraid to say what he’s saying … he would keep it all to himself. Sharing his doctrinaire, hard-Left views is the most pro-career move an actor can make in 2026, particularly in how he’s viewed by fellow actors.”
