President Donald Trump recently addressed reporters regarding the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. He explained that the war resulted in 25,000 deaths last month and 32,000 the previous month. Trump highlighted the high percentage of soldiers among the casualties, stating that about 97% were military personnel.
Additionally, the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) reported that Russia’s military losses since its 2022 invasion of Ukraine amount to as many as 450,000 soldiers.
Trump expressed his desire for a swift resolution to the war, mentioning discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He indicated that both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin were willing to move toward an agreement. Trump hoped that a deal would be reached before the winter season.
The negotiations also led to a significant policy change, with Trump agreeing to allow Ukraine to license and produce U.S. Patriot missile interceptors. This development marks a shift in U.S. policy as Trump had previously been reluctant to grant such licenses. Zelenskyy confirmed the decision, announcing concrete agreements related to the Patriot missile production.
