Recently, a new trend emerged in Google search results, changing how people receive information. When I inquired, “How much screen time is too much for teenagers?,” the response wasn’t the traditional list of links. Instead, Google’s artificial intelligence produced a direct answer.
This AI-crafted response not only provided a numerical figure but further elaborated on the complexity of screen limitations for teenagers. It emphasized the importance of considering the quality and balance of screen time over mere duration. Additionally, the AI suggested that factors such as sleep, exercise, academic pressure, and emotional state could substantially affect what constitutes excessive screen time.
Such AI-generated replies raise questions about privacy and context. In one instance, the AI asked for my medical history. In another, it answered a health-related query without verifying my identity, offering unsolicited advice.
