Hurricane Polo is anticipated to travel north along Mexico’s coastline in the next few days. According to the latest update released on Tuesday by the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Hurricane Polo was positioned roughly 215 miles south of Zihuatanejo, Mexico, moving east-southeast at a speed of approximately six miles per hour.
The hurricane is predicted to shift northwest on Tuesday night and into Wednesday. Forecasts indicate that the storm will pass near the southwestern coast of Mexico in the coming days, but it is expected to remain offshore.
The NHC reported a rise in the storm’s maximum sustained winds, reaching about 150 mph. An official statement from the agency noted, “Polo is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Continued rapid intensification is forecast, and Polo could become a Category 5 hurricane later today.”
