Christine Taylor recently shared insights into her early career in Hollywood, focusing on her salary during the filming of ‘Hey Dude.’ Appearing on Natanya Ross’ podcast, ‘We’re Still Here, Babe,’ Taylor discussed her earnings on Nickelodeon’s Western comedy series, ‘Hey Dude,’ where she portrayed Melody Hanson from 1989 to 1991. She disclosed that her salary was approximately $3,500 per episode by the show’s last season.

Taylor’s revelation contrasts with the cast’s belief that they were earning $5,000 per episode. Taylor recalls that they received a $500 increase per season, resulting in the final pay. The salaries were the same for all cast members, despite some assuming otherwise. Taylor noted this discrepancy during a cast discussion.

Reflecting on her financial management, Taylor shared how she handled the earnings from the television series. She was careful with her spending, often using laundromats and budgeting her finances cautiously. This financial prudence was supported by her family as she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting.

Before her breakthrough role as Marcia Brady in ‘The Brady Bunch Movie,’ Taylor appeared in various productions, including ‘Saved by the Bell,’ ‘Blossom,’ and ‘Robin Hood: Men in Tights.’ However, she faced challenges, such as being asked to lose 10 pounds before playing Marcia Brady, a request she found embarrassing but representative of the attitudes prevalent in the 1990s.

Taylor’s journey in acting continued as she starred alongside husband Ben Stiller in films like ‘Zoolander’ and ‘DodgeBall.’ The couple married in 2000, separated in 2017, and later reconciled. They have two children, Ella and Quinlin.
