Trump’s Ban on Media Outlets: CNN, MS NOW, and Politico

13 hours ago 0

President Donald Trump has announced a ban on CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump declared the decision was due to their continuous reporting of ‘fake news’.

During a session in the Oval Office, Trump emphasized the ban citing the alleged long-term dissemination of misleading stories by these media organizations. He expressed frustration with their reporting practices.

‘You get sick of it,’ Trump remarked.

CNN Responds to White House Ban

In retaliation, CNN critiqued Trump’s ban, labeling it as below the dignity of the office. Traditionally, CNN has been part of a select group of networks reporting globally with the president. Interestingly, CNN was set to lead pool coverage at the United Nations General Assembly despite the ban.

Defense of Press Freedom

Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, also present at the Oval Office event, defended Trump’s stance on press freedom. She insisted on Trump’s openness with the media, asserting that Trump remains accessible to reporters.

‘He has been more accessible and easier to talk to than any president in history,’ Sanders stated.

Legal Challenges to Trump’s Ban Efforts

Historically, the Trump administration’s attempts to restrict media access have faced legal obstacles. Federal judges have blocked previous efforts to ban certain outlets and journalists.

Trump voiced his opinion on misinformation.

‘I don’t think that a court should allow fake news to be written day, after day, after day,’ Trump said.

Media Outlets Stand Firm

Despite the ban, CNN indicated their continued presence at the White House, reinforcing their commitment to accurate reporting. Legal experts suggest such a ban would breach constitutional rights related to press freedom.

Politico released a statement asserting their dedication to impartial reporting and readiness to defend their First Amendment rights if challenged.

‘Politico will continue to fairly report on this White House and future ones,’ the statement mentioned.

MS NOW has opted not to comment publicly at this time.
