Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have relocated their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to a new school in the UK. This move occurred just two days after classes began due to security concerns raised by their security team. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex withdrew Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, as they found it difficult to ensure safe travel to and from the original school.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes stated, “The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.” The parents expressed gratitude to the teachers and staff for their previous care, emphasizing that the move does not reflect on the school’s quality.

According to HELLO! Magazine, heavy traffic and the distance from their home contributed to the decision. Sources revealed that although the children enjoyed their initial days at school, the logistics of the commute challenged the family’s private security. One incident highlighted the difficulty of keeping security vehicles together, exacerbating the issue.

After this decision, Archie and Lilibet attended a test session at a new school, where Harry was seen settling Lilibet into reception. HELLO! reported that the Sussexes were added to parents’ WhatsApp groups at the new school.

Security remains a critical concern for the Sussexes, who returned to England recently. They had lived in California for six years prior to their move.

Prince Harry’s Ongoing Security Challenges

Security remains an unresolved issue in Harry’s relationship with the UK. When he and Meghan stepped down from working royal roles in 2020, their automatic police protection was removed. Harry contested the decision in court, citing risks to his family while visiting the UK. He lost his appeal in May 2025.
