Vikings Rally Past Packers for Victory
On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings secured a 39-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers. The win featured a significant comeback but also included a setback with an injury to starting quarterback Kyler Murray.
Murray’s Injury Incident
The injury occurred during the first quarter on a third-down play. Murray attempted to gain yards by scrambling but suffered a hit from two Packers defenders. Safety Javon Bullard was involved in the collision, leading to an unnecessary roughness penalty.
Murray stayed on the field briefly while team staff assessed his condition. He later walked off independently after being ruled out for the remainder of the game due to a concussion.
Post-Injury Reactions
In a postgame interview on CBS, Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson expressed concern for his teammate. Jefferson shared well-wishes for Murray and highlighted the relief in seeing him walk off the field.
“Well, first and foremost, you know, definitely, thinking about Kyler, and definitely, prayers out to him,” Jefferson shared.
Jefferson also emphasized his teammate’s importance to the team.
Game Performance and Future Plans
Despite the setback, Jefferson had an impressive game, finishing with eight receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns. His performance marked a promising start following last season’s scoring struggles.
Meanwhile, Murray’s brief participation included completing 3 of 5 passes for 18 yards and an interception. Having signed Murray in the offseason to improve their quarterback situation, his early exit was a disappointment.
Murray was listed as “questionable” following the Packers game and will need to clear concussion protocol for the upcoming match against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 20. Carson Wentz may step in as quarterback if Murray is unable to play.
