The Role of Pratt’s Endorsement

Although Pratt praised Bass as a skilled politician after a debate with Raman, he criticized both candidates harshly, calling Bass an “evil witch” and labeling Raman as the “worst possible choice for Mayor.” Political consultant Matt Klink suggests that Pratt is unlikely to endorse either candidate.

Current Stance of Pratt Voters

In Pacific Palisades, Pratt secured 51% of votes in June, signifying strong local support. Residents face a dilemma in choosing between Bass and Raman, often seen as choosing the lesser of two evils.

Joanna Curtis, a lifelong resident, is one of those who feel neither option serves the community well. Instead, she preferred Pratt in the primary.

Strategies for Mayor Bass

To win over Pratt voters, Bass might lean on groups like the Police Protective League. This union plans to spend millions on anti-Raman ads highlighting her ties to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which advocates controversial policies like defunding police.

The union spokesperson suggests that highlighting Raman’s record may sway Pratt supporters.

Raman’s Approach to Voters

Meanwhile, Raman positions herself as an anti-establishment candidate, appealing to any negative sentiments against Bass. Her campaign pivots away from ideological divides, promoting a vision of making Los Angeles functional.

Raman engages directly with Palisades voters, many of whom are frustrated by the aftermath of recent local fires.

Educating Pratt Voters

Fernando Guerra, a political science professor, suggests that Pratt voters remain undecided. Predicting clear outcomes is challenging, as there’s equal possibility for support being split between Bass and Raman.
