Fleming penned twelve novels and two short-story collections until his passing in 1964. Since then, eight other authors have contributed to the Bond saga. Beyond Bond’s own stories, other characters from the universe have enjoyed literary spinoffs. Moneypenny is one such character. Some authors have explored Bond’s backstory and childhood, with Anthony Horowitz releasing the latest novel in May 2022.
The series, through its movies and novels, has transformed Bond into a cultural icon and a leading protagonist in action stories. He is famously known by his codename, 007, which has also appeared in comics and best-selling video games.

Sean Connery was the first actor to portray the iconic spy on screen. Since then, six other actors have embodied Bond. These actors include David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.
The latest film, “No Time to Die,” premiered in 2021, marking Daniel Craig’s fifth appearance as Bond. The films have sustained the character’s cultural relevance long after the novels’ popularity in Britain.
The film franchise is estimated to hold a value exceeding $19 billion. Currently, there is no new actor announced to replace Craig. Bond films have attained critical acclaim, illustrated by nominations and wins at the Academy Awards, particularly for their music.
“Skyfall,” released in 2012, stands as a highlight in the franchise. It garnered over $1 billion at the box office and is one of the most profitable and renowned Bond films.
