Police Investigate Tragic Death in West Ridge
Chicago police are looking into the death of a 1-year-old girl in the West Ridge area. The child was discovered unresponsive with visible injuries to her lower body at a residence on the 2600 block of West Rosemont Avenue around 11:40 a.m.
Emergency services transported the child to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where she was officially pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the girl as Maombi Joyeuse. An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Sunday to determine the cause of death.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services stated that they are unable to provide additional information at this time. However, they assured that their agency will collaborate with police officials in investigating the circumstances of the case after the autopsy results are available.
This incident raises concerns about child safety and the importance of cross-agency cooperation in solving cases involving minors.
