A tragic accident occurred Sunday evening when a car carrying eight passengers overturned on Interstate 57 in Harvey, located in Chicago’s south suburbs. Among the passengers was a six-month-old boy from Englewood who unfortunately did not survive the crash. According to Illinois State Police, the vehicle rolled over at approximately 6 p.m. Seven others involved in the incident were rushed to a nearby hospital, suffering from various injuries.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the infant was pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital on the same night. This devastating event led to significant disruptions; both northbound traffic on Interstate 57 and an entrance ramp from 147th street were closed for about five hours while authorities conducted a thorough investigation.
