All flights bound for Miami International Airport have been halted due to a disabled aircraft. This information comes from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) airport status website.
Numerous social media posts feature videos showing thick smoke rising from an airplane displaying an Amazon logo on its wing, seemingly situated on a roadway.
According to a statement emailed to Newsweek by the FAA, “21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway following a landing at Miami International Airport approximately at 2 p.m. local time.” The aircraft involved is a Boeing 767-300 cargo plane, which had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The FAA has announced plans to investigate this incident and pointed Newsweek to the airline for further information.
At present, details about any injuries or fatalities remain unknown.
