MAGA Inc. Invests in Ken Paxton’s Senate Campaign

2 weeks ago 0

MAGA, Inc., the super PAC associated with President Donald Trump, has committed to a significant financial investment in the Texas Senate race. The group is allocating $10 million for digital and TV ads to bolster Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s campaign against Democratic state Rep. James Talarico. This funding decision is documented in a recent Federal Election Commission filing.

Ken Paxton and James Talarico are engaged in a closely contested race, with polls frequently indicating a tight competition. Trump’s endorsement, which helped Paxton defeat incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the Republican primary, adds significant weight to Paxton’s campaign.

“While James Talarico has a record of raising taxes on working families, my Protecting the Texas Promise Agenda cuts costs and makes life more affordable,” Paxton stated on social media. He thanked President Trump for his support, expressing confidence in achieving victory for Texas and America.

The super PAC’s decision to invest comes after considerable speculation regarding its involvement in this competitive race. Responding to the move, Talarico’s campaign criticized the influence of wealthy donors. The campaign spokesperson stated that dark money groups fear the grassroots momentum generated by Talarico’s campaign, aiming to reform a corrupt political system.

Talarico, advocating for higher taxes on the wealthy, called out the billionaires attending the upcoming Republican midterm convention. He accused them of celebrating policies that elevate grocery costs and pledged to unite people across party lines in support of their neighbors adversely affected by such political actions.

MAGA Inc. spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer labeled Talarico as “High Tax Talarico,” asserting that his policies would financially burden Texans. The super PAC emphasizes Paxton’s policies, like increasing the child tax credit and allowing tax breaks for medical expenses, as beneficial for voters.

Contrasting fundraising figures illustrate the campaign dynamics. Talarico’s campaign has garnered $72 million, largely from small donors, contrasting with Paxton’s $16.8 million. Nevertheless, the substantial backing from MAGA, Inc., holding around $400 million in funds, offers Paxton a notable advantage. Trump referred to these funds as “my money,” pledging to spend generously to support the campaign.
