Andrew Tate Indicted for Multiple Crimes in Romania

On September 4, 2026, reports revealed the indictment of Andrew Tate for various crimes in Romania. These include trafficking minors, money laundering, and sexual offenses. Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism announced these alleged crimes on Friday. Among them is the exploitation of a minor, moved to Luton, UK, for sexual exploitation and pornography.

Tristan Tate, Andrew’s brother, is also indicted. He faces charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice and complicity. Although Romanian authorities did not mention the Tate brothers by name, they referred to an investigation involving two British men aged 39 and 38 from the same family.

Local press, including Romania’s national news agency Agerpres, identified the indicted individuals as the Tate brothers, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship.

We will examine every aspect of (the indictment) with the same level of scrutiny and we will challenge any evidential, procedural or legal deficiencies through the appropriate judicial process, said Eugen Vidineac, a Romanian lawyer for the Tates, in a statement provided to Reuters.

Currently, the Tate brothers are in U.S. custody while awaiting a judge’s decision regarding their extradition to Britain. They are wanted there on rape charges. Their arrest by U.S. Marshals occurred in Miami in July.

Both brothers have denied any wrongdoing related to legal proceedings in the UK and Romania. Joseph McBride, their lawyer, expressed to Newsweek that he believes in their innocence. He stated, the world knows Andrew and Tristan are innocent.

McBride further commented, We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work.
