Jim Thornton, known for his role as the announcer for ‘Wheel of Fortune’ since 2011, has been suspended. Sony Pictures Television Studios spokesperson informed Fox News Digital of the decision following recent allegations.
The incident under investigation involves a complaint made by another passenger during a flight Thornton took in May. Law enforcement met Thornton upon the plane’s arrival at Los Angeles International Airport. No arrest was made, according to TMZ.
Thornton took over the announcer role in 2011 after the passing of Charlie O’Donnell. Before ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ Thornton lent his voice to various projects, including ‘Celebrity Death Match,’ ‘The Cleveland Show,’ and Pixar’s ‘Monsters, Inc.’ He has also been involved with ‘The Price is Right,’ ‘Jeopardy!,’ and KNX 1070 Newsradio.
Throughout his career, Thornton has received prestigious awards such as the Edward R. Murrow award and an Emmy. ‘Wheel of Fortune’ continues to search for a temporary replacement while the investigation is underway.
