Extreme Weather and Flash Floods in the Grand Canyon

3 weeks ago 0

Wildfires, heavy rains, and other factors related to a warming Earth are leading to intense flash flooding events, affecting places like the Grand Canyon. One such event occurred at Bright Angel Creek near the Phantom Ranger Station in the Grand Canyon, Arizona, following storms on August 29.

Survivors of this weekend’s deadly flash flooding in the Grand Canyon are sharing their experiences. The flash flood is believed to be part of a series of extreme weather events. A significant wildfire that affected parts of Grand Canyon National Park in July 2025 may have contributed to the dangerous flash floods that resulted in two hikers’ deaths over the weekend. While dozens have been rescued, at least one person remains missing.
