Grand Canyon Flash Floods Result in Fatalities and Missing Persons

Officials have confirmed a second death at Grand Canyon National Park due to severe flash floods over the weekend. The floods swept through a remote area frequented by hikers and campers.

As of Monday, more than a dozen individuals remained missing, with ongoing search and recovery operations. The efforts are focused along Bright Angel Creek, which stretches from the north rim of the canyon to the Colorado River, according to the National Park Service.

The agency cautioned that further rain and thunderstorms expected on Monday could hamper the search activities. Late Sunday, officials reported the discovery of the first victim’s body, a 46-year-old man, near Crystal Rapids on the Colorado River. No further details have been released about the second victim.
