The WNBA will soon pause its season as players prepare to participate in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Before this break, the Indiana Fever faced the Connecticut Sun. The Fever entered the game with strong momentum after defeating the Chicago Sky 113-90, while the Sun sought their 11th win of the season.
In the first quarter, Connecticut surprised the Fever by establishing a 28-19 lead, demonstrating resilience on the road. However, for Indiana, this early setback proved to be a motivator. During the second quarter, the Fever outscored the Sun 39-15, turning the game around and leading 58-43 by halftime.
While the third quarter remained competitive, it included a notable assist from Caitlin Clark to Kelsey Mitchell. Clark’s performance included 12 assists and 34 points, matching Mitchell’s 34 points. This game set a WNBA record for the most 30-plus-point games by two teammates in a single season, marking their fourth such performance this year.
The Fever secured a 111-91 victory, adding to their franchise record of 19 games exceeding 100 points in a season. Following the World Cup break, Indiana will resume play on September 18 with an away game against the Toronto Tempo. Four regular-season games remain for the Fever.
