Jason Dohring Embraces Farming Over Acting

Jason Dohring, recognizable for his role in ‘Veronica Mars,’ has shifted his focus from acting to agriculture. In a conversation on the ‘Don’t Do Nothing’ podcast, the 44-year-old actor discussed his newfound passion for farming, citing a growing interest that began four years ago.

Dohring mentioned a significant change in his career path, telling his agents he was stepping away from acting to farm. He expressed concern over the health impact of modern food consumption, motivating him to cultivate healthier food options. Initially starting his farming endeavors in Los Angeles, he expanded to a 14-acre farm in West Virginia. There, Dohring personally planted around 3,500 of the 4,000 trees on his property, including apple, cherry, pear, peach, and nectarine varieties.

Currently residing on an 11-acre farm in Florida with his family, the actor explained the move due to favorable weather conditions. He experienced water shortages in California due to restrictions on drilling wells and unpredictable rainfall patterns, contrasting this with Florida’s consistent rainfall.

Dohring has adopted regenerative farming practices on his Florida farm, aiming to produce chemical-free crops. He noted improvements in the farm’s productivity through these sustainable methods, drawing attention from seasoned agricultural veterans.

Dohring’s acting career took off in 2004 with ‘Veronica Mars,’ where he portrayed Logan Echolls alongside Kristen Bell. His recent acting endeavors include a role in ‘SEAL Team’ in 2021.

Despite his hiatus from acting, Dohring acknowledges a potential return in the future. He finds artistic satisfaction in both acting and farming.
