Uganda has successfully discharged its last Ebola patient from hospital care on July 16, marking an important milestone for the country.
The World Health Organization has declared Uganda Ebola-free. This announcement comes concurrently with the growing concern over a severe outbreak in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.
In Congo, the epidemic has rapidly expanded, causing alarm among health authorities. The latest figures highlight the gravity of the situation, with at least 2,744 fatalities reported. Additionally, there have been 5,713 confirmed cases of Ebola.
Back in May, during the height of the outbreak in Uganda, workers were actively involved in spraying disinfectant in areas suspected of Ebola contamination. Their efforts have been crucial in controlling the virus and ensuring the safety of the community.
