Arrest at Trump Golf Course Unveils Writings on Secret Service Personnel

An armed man, Jeanine John Taele, was arrested on Aug. 2 at President Donald Trump’s California golf course. Reports reveal that Taele allegedly possessed detailed information about first lady Melania Trump’s schedule and U.S. Secret Service personnel.

During a court hearing in Los Angeles County, it was reported that Taele, aged 38, had more than 200 pages of writings. These included schedules for the first lady and members of the president’s Secret Service detail. Prosecutors noted that Taele possessed seven notebooks filled with 208 pages of diagrams, sketches, and lists pertaining to Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles. These notebooks contained USSS schedules, information about individual security personnel, and copies of Melania Trump’s itinerary.

According to reports, Taele’s writings also contained survival guides for living “off the grid.” Los Angeles County Judge John Lonergan Jr. labeled the accusations as “alarming.” He expressed concerns over rising violence, particularly in the current political climate leading up to the midterm elections.

The judge suspended criminal proceedings after a pretrial assessment indicated Taele was not mentally fit for trial. Consequently, the case was sent to a mental health court.

Authorities arrested Taele following observations by undercover federal agents at the golf club. He was seen taking photos and videos and monitoring security activities before Trump’s visit. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported finding a 16-round magazine with hollow-point ammunition in Taele’s possession.

A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded pistol with an additional magazine containing hollow-point ammunition.

During a subsequent search of Taele’s Downey residence, authorities recovered an illegally modified AR-platform rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, bulk ammunition, radio signal devices, and notebooks with what were described as “concerning statements.”

The investigation involves the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, the USSS, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Taele, a former Marine who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, remains incarcerated pending a Sept. 9 hearing at Hollywood Mental Health Court.

Taele’s public defender, A.J. Bayne, advised against making assumptions about his client’s intent, emphasizing Taele’s military service and family support.

The USSS did not comment on specific intelligence matters but affirmed its commitment to investigate any activity perceived as a potential threat.

President Trump mentioned the arrest and remarked, “Well, the only thing I get a little solace from is, they say only consequential presidents. And I am definitely consequential,” during an appearance on “Fox News @ Night.”
