San Francisco 49ers CEO Arrested in Ohio

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — John “Jed” York, known for his role as principal owner and CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, faced legal trouble over the weekend in Ohio. On Monday, York entered a plea of no contest to misdemeanor charges, including disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. The incident occurred in East Palestine, close to the Pennsylvania border.

The initial charge against York was for engaging in prostitution, as reported by The Associated Press referencing court documents. However, this charge was amended to disorderly conduct. York, an alumni of Cardinal Mooney High located locally, secured his release by posting a $5,000 bond.

Details surrounding the case remain sparse, although an East Palestine Police report accessed by Nexstar’s WKBN revealed cooperation with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in York’s arrest.

Court filings indicate York received a sentence of two days in the Columbiana County Jail, to be served concurrently, with acknowledgment for a day already served. Additionally, York was subjected to $1,150 in fines.

A sum of $160 was confiscated from York, designated for forfeiture to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as agreed in the case settlement. York has lodged a formal expungement petition to remove the incident from his legal records, according to available court papers.

York ascended to the role of team president of the 49ers in 2008. As of Monday morning, the team had yet to issue any public comments regarding York’s arrest. In response to inquiries by Nexstar’s WKBN, the NFL released a statement acknowledging the situation, stating it would undergo evaluation under its personal conduct policy. WKBN also reached out to the team and York’s attorney for further statements.
