The Arizona Cardinals are facing challenges with injuries to two of their key players, including the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Jeremiyah Love. Head coach Mike LaFleur announced that Love will be sidelined for at least a week due to an ankle injury sustained during a preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite initial optimism, Love reported increased soreness by Friday.
LaFleur stated, “He was in great spirits, even Friday. But we’ll keep him out this week as we let it heal. So, a little bit more sore than we were anticipating.” Love will not participate in the second preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. In the first game, he managed 11 carries for 58 yards and three catches for 14 yards.
With Love absent, Tyler Allgeier will take on the starting role, supported by Bam Knight and Corey Kiner. The team is also without veteran running back James Conner, who is recovering from a foot injury from the previous season.
The Cardinals’ challenges extend beyond Love’s injury. Rookie Chase Bisontis, a second-round draft pick vying for the starting right guard position, tore his MCL in the same game. He will require surgery and will be placed on injured reserve.
LaFleur expressed his disappointment, saying, “He’ll be out for a good amount of time, if not the whole year. Sucks for him. Always think about the player first. Sucks for the Cardinals too; he’s a good player but more importantly, you hate it for the player.” The injuries present a significant obstacle for the Cardinals as they prepare for the upcoming season.
