Rosie O’Donnell recently credited former President Donald Trump for her renewed fame. During an interview with Amy Poehler on “Good Hang,” O’Donnell expressed her surprise at her renewed popularity, attributing it to Trump, whom she referred to as “a horrible creature” and “Mango Mussolini.” O’Donnell humorously told her children to brace themselves because their mother has become “re-famous.”

The tension between O’Donnell and Trump has been ongoing for years. The comedian, known as one of Trump’s most vocal critics, relocated to Ireland after Trump’s 2024 election victory over Kamala Harris.

Rosie O’Donnell’s recent activity includes appearances on various podcasts and shows. She is scheduled to guest host “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for a week. A notable appearance was her interview with Seth Meyers on July 23, 2026, while a recent public moment for Trump included signing an executive order in the Oval Office on August 6, 2026.

Trump’s June 6 post on Truth Social, shared by the White House, portrays O’Donnell with thought bubbles of Trump beside her, claiming O’Donnell “is obsessed.”

“There have been so many comedians who have said things about him, but I am from the same area that he’s from,” she stated in a Variety interview.

Both O’Donnell and Trump grew up in New York, a point she highlighted in explaining their feud. She added that some have remarked on the similarity of their accents, which she finds undesirable. O’Donnell recalls telling Trump to “shut the hell up,” suggesting it may have left a lasting impression on him.

She theorized that Trump views her as a reminder of childhood failures, describing how tough girls often rebuked him. She reiterated these views on Sophia Bush’s “Work in Progress” podcast, suggesting Trump’s fixation is rooted in childhood interactions with assertive girls like her.

O’Donnell also mentioned a potential return to “The View” for its 30th anniversary. However, the show’s producer, Brian Teta, clarified via the platform X that no official invitations have been issued, despite speculations related to O’Donnell’s involvement.
