Kaylee Goncalves’ Parents Speak on Bryan Kohberger Case

Steve and Kristi Goncalves recently appeared on Hang Out with Sean Hannity to discuss the investigation into the University of Idaho murders involving their daughter, Kaylee Goncalves. They revealed new details about the case, including the presence of Bryan Kohberger’s DNA on a knife sheath and their push against secret plea deals.

The couple spoke candidly about their experiences during the seven-week search for the killer. They discussed the emotional toll on their family and their efforts to assist cold cases through their foundation. During the episode, they also revealed previously withheld information about a second weapon and shared their ongoing fight for justice.

Kohberger had initially pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary in 2025, which spared him the death penalty. However, Kohberger is now seeking to rescind his plea. Though sentenced to life without parole for the murders and additional years for burglary, he is pursuing an appeal.

According to the Bible, we need to forgive him, said Kristi Goncalves. But Steve said he’s never asked for forgiveness. He’s never shown an ounce of remorse. He’s claiming that he didn’t do this. So, what, do we forgive him?

Kohberger, 31, was convicted of killing Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin on November 13, 2022. He entered their residence through a sliding glass door, and his DNA was linked to a knife sheath found at the scene.

Kristi Goncalves described Kohberger as a demon and expressed her struggles in forgiving him. Steve Goncalves echoed these sentiments, describing Kohberger as soulless and noting that the killings seemed to fulfill his sick fantasy.

The Goncalves family continues to grapple with Kaylee’s brutal death and Kohberger’s lack of remorse. Kristi mentioned frequent conversations with God about forgiveness, expressing her internal conflict over forgiving Kohberger.

Finally, Kristi Goncalves expressed her disgust at Kohberger’s appeal efforts, after the families have endured years of trauma. Steve voiced readiness to fight any appeal efforts vigorously.
