Quinnen Williams Secures Extension with Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have announced a significant three-year extension for veteran defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, set before the 2026 NFL season begins. This new agreement will make Williams one of the highest-paid players in his position.

Williams’ contract extension is valued at $105.9 million, with $101 million guaranteed and $63.35 million guaranteed upon signing. Additionally, Williams received a signing bonus of $31.85 million.

Williams, who has participated in the last four Pro Bowls, joined the Cowboys in a high-profile trade with the New York Jets last season. This move came at a pivotal time as the Jets decided to trade away both Williams and cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts, amidst a season lacking in successes. In exchange, the Jets acquired a second-round pick in 2026, a 2027 first-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith.

Williams was originally signed by the Jets to a four-year extension in 2023 worth $96 million, with $66 million guaranteed. However, the recent trade and subsequent contract with the Cowboys indicate Dallas’ commitment to securing top talent for the long term. The Cowboys are keen on building a strong defensive lineup, as emphasized by team executive vice president Stephen Jones at the start of training camp.

“We are committed to strengthening our defense and believe in Williams’ abilities to lead us well into the future,” said Stephen Jones.

Currently, Williams joins the ranks of top-paid defensive tackles, alongside players like the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Carter, the Tennessee Titans’ Jeffery Simmons, and the Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones. Notably, Osa Odighizuwa, another defensive tackle for Dallas, also recently signed a four-year extension worth $80 million, reaffirming the Cowboys’ willingness to invest heavily in their defensive roster.

In addition to Williams, Dallas has bolstered their defense by adding Kenny Clark through the Micah Parsons trade with the Green Bay Packers and Rashan Gary, formerly of the Packers, in free agency. This revamped defense aligns with the offensive performance demonstrated under head coach Brian Schottenheimer in 2025.

Williams made a considerable impact in his seven games with Dallas last season, contributing 21 combined tackles, 1.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, and nine quarterback hits.

Over his career, Williams has recorded an impressive 343 combined tackles, 62 of which were for loss, alongside 41.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles. He achieved a First Team All-Pro honor during his standout 2022 season with the Jets, where he amassed 12 sacks.
