Jesse Watters Criticizes Scott Pelley’s Remarks and ’60 Minutes’ Changes

Jesse Watters recently mocked former ’60 Minutes’ correspondent Scott Pelley for his emotional remarks about his departure from CBS. Watters, during his show ‘Jesse Watters Primetime,’ described Pelley as a ‘drama queen’ and criticized his lack of self-awareness regarding media biases.

Newly appointed ’60 Minutes’ executive producer Nick Bilton addressed ongoing rumors within the newsroom. Bilton noted in a memo to staff that many of the rumors are untrue. He encouraged team members to focus their energy on producing stories rather than spreading inaccurate information.

Bilton emphasized his readiness to clarify any concerns, urging staff to ask him directly if they hear something significant. He expressed a desire for ’60 Minutes’ to be recognized for its televised content rather than internal rumors.

The changes within ’60 Minutes’ follow a major staff restructuring. Bilton’s memo included upcoming plans for the show’s 59th season, such as introducing a digital version of the story board to replace the traditional dry erase marker approach.

Bilton also stressed the importance of office collaboration among staff. Although he recognized the variety of work locations due to field assignments, he preferred staff presence in the office when not traveling.

Bilton’s appointment to lead ’60 Minutes’ came with significant changes, including the removal of his predecessor Tanya Simon and correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega. Veteran correspondent Scott Pelley was also dismissed after a confrontation with Bilton and CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss.

In a recent announcement, Bilton introduced new correspondents Ross Douthat from the New York Times and CBS News veteran Norah O’Donnell, along with contributors like journalist Sebastian Junger and others.
