Rift Among Trump Allies Over Foreign Policy and Transparency

The image, posted by former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, was taken at a gathering with her husband, Brian Glenn, commentator Tucker Carlson, Representative Thomas Massie, and Joe Kent, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center.

Greene’s post stated, “We said no more foreign wars and we meant it,” expressing disappointment with Trump. She emphasized an “America First” commitment and noted that their movement has begun.

Marjorie Taylor Greene

Greene once strongly supported Trump, opposing his impeachment and attending his rallies. However, her alliance with Trump ended due to several issues. A major turning point was Trump’s decision to strike Iranian sites, which she felt betrayed the “no foreign wars” promise of the MAGA agenda. Another crucial issue was Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files; Greene believed survivors’ accounts and disagreed with Trump’s reasons for not releasing related files.

Following her disagreements with Trump, he withdrew his endorsement of Greene and called her a “disgrace” to the party. Greene announced her resignation from Congress, stating dissatisfaction with the Republican Party for not prioritizing its voters’ interests.

Tucker Carlson

Carlson, a former Fox News host, was initially a staunch supporter of Trump. Their relationship soured over Trump’s foreign policy, specifically regarding military action against Iran. Carlson argued against such intervention, believing it contradicted Trump’s “America First” promise. The relationship further deteriorated following military action in the Middle East. Carlson later apologized for supporting Trump, acknowledging previous warning signs about Trump’s character.

Thomas Massie

Massie, known for opposing government spending and foreign military action, initially endorsed Trump but later became a critic over foreign policy issues. Massie’s push against military action in Iran and his efforts regarding the Epstein files widened the gap with Trump. Despite supporting Trump on many issues, Massie faced opposition from Trump, who backed a primary challenger against him. Massie remains committed to using his remaining time in office to oppose Trump’s policies.

Joe Kent

Kent, a former Special Forces officer, served in Trump’s administration but resigned over the war with Iran. Having lost his wife in combat, Kent felt the conflict did not align with an “America First” approach. While Trump labeled Kent as weak on security, Kent contended that U.S. involvement in the war was driven by limited advisers and external pressures.
