Andrus Peat Announces Retirement from NFL

Pro Bowl offensive lineman Andrus Peat declared his retirement from professional football in a social media post on Friday. Peat, aged 32, spent 11 seasons in the NFL after being picked 13th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. He graduated from Stanford before joining the league.

Peat expressed gratitude for his career in an Instagram post, saying, “11 years in the league, I gave it everything I had. I may be walking away from football, but not from the lessons it taught me. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and especially my brothers in the trenches. I’m grateful beyond words that I was able to live out this dream.”

The former offensive lineman started with the Saints for nine seasons, primarily as the team’s left guard. His performance earned him three consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2018 to 2020. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the Saints securing four consecutive NFC South titles from 2017 to 2020.

After leaving the Saints in 2023, Peat joined the Las Vegas Raiders, contributing as a veteran reserve on the offensive line. He participated in 15 games that season, starting in one. Subsequently, he moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a similar role, entering six games and starting three.

Peat shared his plans after football by mentioning, “On to the next chapter with my wife and sons. All glory to God!”

In response to his retirement announcement, Peat’s wife, Ashley, commented on his post, stating, “We are SO proud of you baby!!!! Thank you for everything you sacrificed and worked so hard to provide for us all these years. Can’t wait to enjoy this next chapter with you,” accompanied by heart emojis.
