Cristina Ulbrich Passes Away After Cancer Battle

4 days ago 0

Cristina Ulbrich, the wife of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, passed away on Sunday after battling cancer, as announced by the team.

The statement from the Atlanta Falcons read, “Cristina was a devoted wife, mother, and friend whose strength, grace, and resilience touched all who knew her. She was a constant source of love and support to Jeff, their family, and the broader Falcons community.”

Jeff Ulbrich, currently 49, has not been seen at the Falcons training camp during practices earlier this week, according to several reports. The couple shared three children: Samantha, Jax, and Jace.

Jeff and Cristina met in 1997 at the University of Hawaii during Jeff’s recruiting visit. Jeff, a former NFL linebacker, joined the Atlanta Falcons as a linebackers coach in 2015 and became their defensive coordinator later. He was part of the team during their appearance in the 2017 Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots.

In 2020, Jeff Ulbrich was promoted to assistant head coach and defensive coordinator under interim head coach Raheem Morris. He later joined Robert Saleh with the New York Jets in 2021, eventually serving as interim head coach in 2024 after Saleh’s departure.

Despite Morris’s firing and subsequent coaching changes, Ulbrich maintained his role as defensive coordinator when Kevin Stefanski became head coach of the Falcons.

Before his coaching career, Ulbrich spent 10 years as a linebacker with the San Francisco 49ers and had roles as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator at UCLA.
