The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has taken legal action against Hims & Hers, a well-known provider of weight-loss drugs, claiming the company violated patient privacy. The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, accuses the San Francisco-based company of sharing sensitive patient information with advertising platforms operated by Meta and Snap.
According to the FTC, Hims & Hers did not adhere to required privacy standards by transferring patient data to third-party advertisers. This move allegedly breached trust and failed to protect user privacy.
In addition to the privacy concerns, the FTC also accused the company of engaging in unfair billing practices. This complaint highlights significant concerns regarding how patient information is managed and billed in the growing online healthcare sector.
