In contrast, domestic terrorism consists of violent, criminal acts by individuals or groups to promote ideological goals linked to various domestic influences, such as political, religious, social, racial, or environmental issues.
The FBI plays a crucial role in investigating and preventing terrorism on both an international and domestic scale. Several organizations are recognized by the U.S. government as foreign terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Hamas, and the Taliban.

On this day, the Twin Towers in New York City were destroyed after being hit by commercial airplanes. Additionally, a plane crashed into the Pentagon, and another crashed in Pennsylvania. Al-Qaeda, led by Osama bin Laden, orchestrated this attack. In May 2011, Navy SEALs killed bin Laden while Barack Obama was serving as Commander-in-Chief.
