Two individuals were arrested following a mass shooting on Sunday at the Seattle Center, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries, according to Mayor Katie Wilson and the police. Mayor Wilson described the incident as an act of ‘horrific violence,’ emphasizing the impact on affected families and the community’s struggle to understand how a cultural gathering ended in gunfire.

Emergency crews arrived at the site shortly after 6 p.m., as the Bite of Seattle food festival was taking place. The Seattle Police Department urged the public to avoid the area, emphasizing safety concerns. The Seattle Fire Department confirmed that two people were pronounced dead on-site despite life-saving efforts. Three other victims, including a two-year-old child, were taken to the hospital in stable condition. Another victim was transported in serious condition, and one individual with minor injuries declined hospitalization.

Eyewitness Kayla Carris, 22, was present at the Bite of Seattle when the shooting occurred. She recalled people scrambling for safety inside the Seattle Center Armory, noting that panic ensued. Another witness, Todd Behrends, 59, reported hearing multiple gunshots and described the chaotic scene as people fled, some trampling over others.

In response to the incident, Harborview Medical Center initiated a lockdown due to heightened police activity in the vicinity. The Seattle Center Monorail ceased operations for the rest of Sunday. The community seeks closure and safety following this tragic event.
