Police Search for Suspected Attacker in Berlin’s Festival Incident

The search is ongoing in Germany for Abdul B, a suspect believed to have driven a van into Berlin’s Pride festival. This tragedy resulted in one fatality and at least 16 injuries. The suspect, identified as a 21-year-old, reportedly has connections to Islamist groups; however, no arrests have been made yet, and efforts continue to locate him in Berlin.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. local time on Saturday, in Tiergarten Park. A white van struck attendees at the Pride event, hitting multiple individuals before coming to a halt against a tree. The fatality was confirmed three hours post the event, with reports indicating several were injured by stabbing weapons. Authorities suspect that one or more individuals fled the van following the crash.

Descriptions of the suspect include wearing a black hoodie and white pants, with a slim build approximately six feet two, and black hair. Police have cautioned the public against any attempts to approach, as the suspect may pose a threat.

Police spokesperson Florian Nath stated, “The suspect is known to police, our search for this person is proceeding at full speed.” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed his disdain for the act, commenting via social media, “What an abhorrent act in Berlin.” The situation is evolving, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
