Arrest of Florida Man Following Violent Incident Involving ‘Sugar Baby’ Arrangement

1 week ago 0

A 67-year-old man, David Allen O’Brien, faces charges of aggravated assault for threatening a 22-year-old individual after a vehicular incident in The Villages, a retirement community in Florida.

According to the arrest report, O’Brien engaged a 21-year-old woman in a ‘sugar baby’ relationship via the Tinder app, offering her financial support. Their agreement included providing the woman with substantial monetary gifts. They met on July 21, with O’Brien proposing $1,000 per visit, including shopping and meals.

Upon their dinner meeting, which the woman attended with three friends, O’Brien provided her with $200 and later $600, after shopping for lingerie. The relationship soured when the woman became uncomfortable at his home, requesting her friends to retrieve her.

O’Brien insisted the woman return the money, as he believed the agreement was unfulfilled.

As she departed, O’Brien allegedly pursued her and her friends in his Ford F-150 truck, ramming their car into a telephone pole. During the altercation, he allegedly brandished his semi-automatic Ruger at a 22-year-old man, threatening violence.

Police intervened, finding O’Brien armed at his truck. He justified his actions by claiming the car’s taillights were blacked out, which he interpreted as a ‘scam.’ He faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery, and is in custody awaiting his Aug. 14 arraignment.
