Influencer Trend Highlights Mentorship Gap in Young Men

Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet highlighted the “looksmaxxing” trend, emphasizing its indication of a growing need for mentorship among young men. Speaking on “The Will Cain Show,” Kolvet described this trend as a strong warning signal.

Kolvet stated, “Young men are actively seeking mentors—voices that help them make sense of societal chaos and navigate complex social environments. They need guidance.” This comes in response to questions about Clavicular, an influencer who promotes “looksmaxxing.” This trend focuses on self-improvement through physical appearance, including fitness, grooming, and facial aesthetics.

One controversial method used by Clavicular involves “bone smashing,” where a hammer is used to induce microfractures in the jaw, promoting regrowth. Clavicular acknowledged using this technique but advised against others trying it without medical consultation. Despite Clavicular’s charismatic appeal, Kolvet encourages young men to focus on deeper values.

“We need to promote ‘charactermaxxing’ over ‘looksmaxxing,'” Kolvet insisted. “Young individuals should focus on their faith, social life, and pursuits of eternal value.”

Medical professionals have criticized the “bone smashing” practice due to its potential for severe injury. Clavicular shared insights into the trend on the “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast. He argued that enhancing physical appearance improves daily interactions significantly.

“Prioritizing looking better can impact every small interaction in life,” said Clavicular.

Kolvet, however, stressed the importance of mentorship, urging older individuals to take active roles in guiding young men. He emphasized that finding positive mentors is crucial for success, expressing the urgent need for older generations to support young men in navigating challenging social dynamics.
